The Zolman Difference
Residential Flood
Overview
After an extremely harsh winter, a New Baltimore family experienced a severe flood due to a frozen pipe bursting in their second floor bathroom. The water not only destroyed the bathroom floor, but also continued to leak into the kitchen area below. Zolman Restoration was hired to extract the water, oversee the mitigation, and demolition of the bathroom and kitchen. The structure repair included content manipulation and the installation of new drywall, electrical, flooring, cabinetry, HVAC, plumbing, and finish hardware.
Challenges
Zolman Restoration understood the urgency of this residential flood project, because the client was occupying his home during the restoration without a functioning kitchen and bathroom. The restoration required careful planning and coordination with third-party vendors, such as the custom cabinet supplier, to ensure lead times were taken into consideration. Also, a commercial dehumidifier and multiple air movers were required which added a noise inconvenience for the family.
Solutions
To overcome the scheduling challenge, Zolman Restoration remained in constant communication with the client, speaking multiple times each week. Zolman also worked closely with the third party vendors and adjusted scheduling to ensure each installation was completed on time. Finally, to accommodate for the noise of the dehumidifier, Zolman team members only ran the dehumidifier during working hours while the family was out of the home.
Results
The residential flood restoration project began in mid-March, and came to fruition in early June of that same year, making this assignment successfully completed within a very aggressive timeframe. As a result, Zolman Restoration was hired to complete other projects for the same client.
